The final release from the legendary Toaplan is arguably their best latter-day shooter. A beautifully designed game, Batsugun is one of the few vertical shooters to perfectly balance increasingly over-the-top firepower of the players' ship (which 'levels up' its weaponry as the game progresses rather than using an item 'pickup' system) with increasing toughness.. even when armed to the teeth with screen-filling laser blasters the player still needs complete concentration and reactionary 'twitch' gaming skills to survive.. An immaculate Saturn conversion, without any noticeable slowdown. Probably second only to Battle Garegga as traditional vertical-mode shooters go on the system and one of my all-time favourite shooters, especially when played with the Sega 'Arcade' joystick :)
