2011 Annual General Meeting

- Apologies

- Draft
Minutes of the AGM 1-9-10 – Approved following an amendment to the
comment about the U150 Division to read grade restricted.
- Matters
arising: Barking II withdrew from the A Division shortly after the AGM
- Officers’
reports:
- Chairman:
Everything was going fine until the middle of the summer with a dispute
in the Baum Trophy.
- Secretary:
Reported the outcomes of the League’s competitions. Followed with a discussion
on the aforementioned dispute in the Baum Trophy. Cengiz Hasman of Wood
Green asked for his opinion that an injustice had been committed to be
noted.
- Treasurer:
Reserve Account: £507.52, Current Account: £182.11. Discussion around and
unpaid cheque and the meeting agreed that it should no longer appear on
the accounts as it was now out of date..
- Grader:
All games submitted for grading.
- Tournament
Director: The Secretary gave the report on behalf of the Tournament
Director - 51st Capes Trophy held in September. 11th
Sam Black held in July, disappointing entry but the LMC members present
at the tournament agreed to pay the advertised prizes. Mike Jones
thanked the Secretary for running the events.
- Presentation
of Trophies: All trophies except the Finchley Cup were available and presented.
It was agreed that Enfield as winners of the X Division be presented with
C Division trophy and that the division now go under that name.
- Proposed
amendment to Rules:
- Grade
restricted divisions below the A Division proposed by Wanstead CC – After
much discussion the proposal was voted down with 2 votes for and 6
against with 3 abstentions.
- Amendment
to rule 32a for choosing colours. The proposal to adopt the away team
having white on the top board for all matches was defeated 4 votes to 5.
A proposal for the away team having white on top board in matches of an
odd number was carried 7 votes to 3.
- C
Div –. The proposal for continuing the Division in its current format was
carried unanimously. The meeting gave a vote of thanks for Steve Banks
for getting it off the ground.
- Baum
Trophy – Barnet Elizabethans proposed splitting the 1st and 2nd teams
into separate Divisions from 2012. After much deliberation the meeting
agreed for the clubs to enter their teams and for the Secretary to decide
structure of tournament based on the strength and number of entries.
- Baum
Trophy – The Secretary proposed amending rule 36 specifically for the
Baum Trophy to 6 defaulted boards before a cumulative point is
considered. This was carried unanimously.
- Introduction
of twice yearly Standard play grades – The meeting agreed to ignore the
January grades for the purposes of amending barred players and
eligibility to the C Division.
- The
meeting agreed for the Secretary to review the League Rules for the above
agreements and amend as appropriate.
- ECF
Membership Scheme – The Secretary gave the meeting the background to this
scheme. The Secretary agreed to provide updates to this on the website.

- Fees
and subscriptions 11-12: The Treasurer and Secretary gave the background
to why fees for clubs/teams were waived in 2006. Since that time the
current account had reduced from £765.39 down to £182.11(during the same
time the reserve account had only increased by roughly £30). The Treasurer
proposed the reintroduction of the fees and the meeting agreed on £10 for
each club’s 1st team and £5 for each subsequent team and each
Baum Trophy entry. No change to other fees or deposits.
- Composition
of the League 11-12: The meeting agreed for Barnet Elizabethans to have
two teams in the A Division and to waive Chingford’s relegation to the B
Division.

Division: Barking, Barnet Elizabethans I, Barnet Elizabethans II,
Chingford I, Wanstead I and Wood Green
- B
Division: Barnet Elizabethans III, Chingford II, Enfield I, Enfield II, Roding
& Loughton and Wanstead II
- C
Division: Barnet Elizabethans IV, Chingford III, Enfield III and Enfield IV
- Lawrance
and Finchley Cup draws: Chingford I, Barnet Elizabethans II opted out of
the Lawrance Cup and Barnet Elizabethans IV and Chingford III from the
Finchley Cup.
- Lawrance
Cup – Barnet Elizabethans I v Barking; Wood Green v Wanstead I
- Finchley
Cup – Enfield IV v Roding & Loughton, Enfield I v Wanstead II, Barnet
Elizabethans III v Enfield II, Chingford II v Enfield III
- Any
other business: The Secretary reminded the clubs of the 52nd Capes
Trophy.
