Jo Jingles operates nationally, with about 40 franchisees running classes for approximately 8000 children. Jo Jingles has been operating for about eight years now, growing rapidly as parents have recognised and responded to the need to expose their children to music at an early age to reap untold benefits, not only in social and linguistic development, but also in physical motor skills large and small. Not to mention, of course, the great fun we have, too!
In Cambridgeshire classes are run for 1-2 year olds, 2-3 year olds, combined 2-4 year olds, 3-5 year olds and after school for 5-7 year olds. Programmes are developed by experienced teachers, and revised regularly, with the emphasis being always to stimulate and encourage children to discover and enjoy music through singing, playing and movement. Different themes exist for each week, and sometimes a whole term will be geared around a particular topic, such as travel, or people, for example. Each session is packed with lively songs, different types of movement, and, of course, instruments to play!
The 3-5 & 5-7 year old programmes also contain music theory, ensuring a methodical introduction to theory in easy-to-understand formulas, which will be repeated often, and enlivened or interspersed with exposure to other things such as classical music, or music from other cultures or countries.
