The Trust for Sports Tetraplegics

The challenge is a 300 mile cycle ride over 6 days in very hot conditions though the Great African Rift Valley, by Lake Malawi, to raise desperately needed funds for the national charity Regain.

Funds raised by this challenge will support the work of Regain, the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the independence of British men and women who have become tetraplegic as a result of either a leisure or sporting injury.

My mission is to raise at least £2500 in sponsorship for Regain by taking part in this the challenge. The task is made more difficult as I have a disability effecting my balance and co-ordination and this restricts my cycling to the use of a recumbent tricycle. I am therefore fully aware of the importance that adaptations to suit needs can mean and lead to the independence and the improvement of quality of life that this can bring.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed donations to help me partake in this fund raising challenge for Regain so that it is able to improve the quality of life of people with tetraplegia. I have exceeded my initial target, if interested I will keep you posted when the final amount is known.

Special thanks to and my employer Sangria Designs Limited (PCB manufacture) and some of their associated companies for their much valued support.

Everyone completed the ride - many surprising themselves. Much of the course was also covered by three disabled members of the team using hand trikes. Most (all) confessing to enjoying the experience. Congratulations everybody.

Please go to outcome for a report of the trip and visit the photo pages if interested. Please email me with your comments or requests, or details of how you contribute to help this worthy cause.
