Force d' Action Rapide The Force d' Action Rapide is France's reaction and intervention force on Earth, and alongside 8e Corps (it Tiranean companion) is often the first force to provide troops for off Earth duties. FAR is tasked for a whole range of duties from counter-insurgency to providing a bridgehead for follow on forces from the Armée de la Manouvre. FAR troops are all regulars and trained to a higher standard in a wider variety of skills than their Armée de la Manouvre counterparts, but lack the heavy equipment of those forces. The FAR consists of four divisions and also has administrative control of the Earth based French special forces. 1e Division Légère Blindée The 1e DLB is a rapid reaction light combat force that can be deployed anywhere, world wide. It is equipped with the modern ACL-7 advanced light hovertank and is a highly mobile formation.
27e Division Alpins The 27e DA is a specialist mountain warfare unit that is also capable of operating very effectively in the light role in virtually any environment.
9e Division d' Infanterie Marine The 9e DIMa is in fact a rapid deployment, heavy combat force. Although it does have the capacity to be deployed from the sea by the Navy.
11e Division Parachutiste The 11e DP is now a unit composed totally of Metropolitan 'paras blues' but continues to be the lead unit in any large scale interventions on Earth. It holds a place in modern French military mythology similar to that held by the 82nd Airborne Division to the 20th Century USA.
Groupement de Troupes Spéciale de FAR These special forces are deployed anywhere in support of the FAR or other French assets. The two GRUFUMARCO are naval warfare specialists.
