Moore
1957 mentions Musa liukiuensis (Matsumoto) Makino but I think he is
mistaken. The abbreviation Matsum. cited at GRIN is Jinzo Matsumara and none of the
Matsumotos listed in Brummitt and Powell
worked on Spermatophytes. This,
and not Musa basjoo, is the true Japanese Fibre Banana, the ito-basho or thread
banana from which the cloth basho was woven. |
