Comments	In Takensoin Nakai's paper this plant keys out as follows: Ovarium triloculare   - Ovarium sine columna centrali     - Ovula in quoque loculo ovarii longitudine 2-seralia [ ]       - Ovula in medio septorum posita opposita, nunquam axillaria.         Fructus divaricati-biseriales polyspermi, spermis verrucosis.           - Folius subtus petiolique non pruinosa. Bracteae atro-sanguineae vel purpureo-castaneae.             - Folia basi acuta vel obtusa               - Pseudocaulis niger elatus. Folia subtus albescentia.                 Bractae ovatae extus atrosanguineae intus sanguineae.                   Fructus villosi. Semina 4 - 5 mm lata. Nakai also comments that "this is only known by a cultivated plant in Buitenzorg Botanical Gardens (Section XII, B). It is said that it has been brought back from East-Java by Prof. Dammerman, the seventh director of the garden, but its reality is suspectable. It is a tall, slender banana with black stem, narrow leaves (the length is six or seven times longer than the breadth) with whitish but not pruinose undersurface, very white haired ovaries and brown haired fruits full of angular verrucose seeds."
