Comments	Champion lists Musa mindanensis Rumph. (Herb. Amboin., V, 139, 1747) but there is no such combination in Herbarium Amboinense. In his discussion of Musa silvestris (available at http://www.botanicus.org/page/244779 ) Rumphius mentions "mindanauensis" as one variety (using the term loosely, not in the botanical sense) of M. silvestris. As noted by Cheesman, this name (mindanauensis) was taken up by Miquel as M. mindanensis. If Miquel used the name for the fibre-bearing banana of the Philippines then it is not at all clear that Rumphius did. However, Cheesman notes that the second "variety" of M. silvestris mentioned by Rumphius, "amboinensis", may actually be Musa textilis. Hotta lists M. mindanensis Rumph. ex Miq. Fl. Ind. Bat. 3: 588 (8155) as a synonym of M. textilis Née. Fl. Ind. Bat. (Flora Indiae Batavae is an alternate title for Fl. Ned. Ind. (Flora van Nederlandsch Indie).
