New Sponsors for a new season
The Club has tied up some exciting new deals for this season.
Grassmoor Golf Centre have agreed to a 3 year deal with our First Team from
August 2000, which will involve a new home and away kit with Grassmoor's logo
prominent on the front as well as assistance with travel and training costs. We
were awaiting the delivery of the kit from manufacturers "Super
League" which was promised to be to the same specification as Chesterfield
FC's new strip. However "Super League" messed us about so we've now
got a super new kit courtesy of John Peacock at the Blues in Town shop to our
own specification. The kit sports a woven Chesterfield FC badge and the new
Aspire logo, Danny Shearer is pictured right modelling the kit prior to the
recent Walsall match.
Brimington MOT Centre have also contributred towards a
new playing strip for the Under 14 A side, whilst other deals have meant that
the Club has been able to provide drinks bottles for all players, and polo
shirts to wear to all games . Agreementss have also been renewed with Parkers
Opticians in Bolsover who sponsor our Under 10's and 12's, The Boythorpe Inn
who provide after match hospitality to our Senior Teams and Mike Watts at
Plantworld who sponsors all the Clubs Manager and officials.
Many thanks to all
First Trophy of
Season
The Mansfield based Reebok Womens Soccer
Festival is always one of the highlights of pre season, and this year
Chesterfield FC Ladies came away with the 1st trophy of the campaign.
Despite being drawn in a very difficult group our young
team performed admirably. We lost to Doncaster Belles, Everton and Barnet but
then scored the result of the group gaining a 1-1 draw with Leeds United. A 3-1
win against Leicester City then meant that we qualified for the Mansfield
Smooth Ale Cup. In the quarter finals we dispatched Huddersfield Town 3-1, in
the semis Arnold Town 1-0, and in the competition final, beat Doncaster Rovers
1-0. Our victory means that the squad have been equipped with 16 very smart
Reebok sweatshirts which are currently being embriodered.
Overall an exceptional weekend for all concerned and one which bodes well for
our chances this season. The only sour note was an injury to Claire Humberstone
which may mean thats she misses the opening game of the season against
Walsall.
Woolly makes starting line up in
Arsenal First team
One of the first players ever to come to play for the Club was 12 year old
Sarah Wolliscroft from Staveley. She's not so young now and lives in Bedford,
from where she travels into London to play her football. She joined Arsenal at
the start of last season and following a few appearances from the subs bench
last year she has now been elevated into the starting line up. So far she has
played in all of Arsenal's opening fixtures and even managed a goal last
weekend against Everton. We obviously wish her the best of luck for the coming
season.
End of Season Do
The Club End of Season do was the party of all parties this year. It was held
at the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield last June and over 250 people attended. We
were also honoured by the presence of a number representatives from our club
sponsors - Parkers Opticians, The Boythorpe Inn and Plantworld. Geoff Cass the
Borough Chief Recreation Leisure Officer also came as did Norton Lea and his
wife. Mr Lea is the former Chairman of Chesterfield Football Club.
