FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT IL-2

#3: 1st Feb, 2001:

1) Coop missions. Does coop mean that 8 people can fly together for the Axis and 8 for the Allied? Or will all 16 people have to fly for one side? (A)"Perhaps in final it will be possible to fly both variants. At least we are working on more variants.... :)"

2) When the maximum of 16 players play a coop mission, will there be additional AI planes?(A)" Yes, it is possible."

4) Is there a leader in coop missions? (Someone who sets the loadouts of the planes) (A)"Yes. But this leader is the one who may command AI planes. At first others perhaps will be able select loadout themselves. WIP."

5) If I fly a coop mission (and the answer to Q1 is true) will the takeoff point of the enemy planes be unknown to me? (A)"The guy who created the mission and started the server will know everything. All others will receive all settings of the mission. They will not know the take-off spot of the enemy planes. Both against AI and 8x8 (amongst other variants) support this."

6) Will IL-2 contain pornographic material? ;)(A)" No. I love woman in principle, but hate porno."

#2-23rd Jan, 2001:

ZaPPPa quizzes Oleg on the weekly slot. #1-15th Jan, 2001:

Q1- Will it be possible to take out an enemy pilot with one bullet through the canopy? A1- Sometimes. It's not easy, but such an event is possible.

Q2- Will it be possible to take out an enemy plane with one bullet through the engine? A2-Very rare. During long tests I myself got such a result once. This feature is present, but to get such a result is extremely hard.

Q3- Will airfields have jeeps driving around and maybe even people? A3-Jeeps, tanks, cars - yes. You just need to make waypoints for them in the Misson Builder. People - still under question.

Q4- Will there be people in the game in the 3D environment? A4- Perhaps yes. Still under question.

Q5- Will enemy planes learn and adapt their tactics to my tactics? A5-They don't learn... But they do adapt significantly. It depends on the skill of the current AI opponent in-mission.

Q6- ZaPPPa drops his microphone into his beer.

Q7- Is it possible to land in a forest? A7-No. You'll be damaged and then explode.

Q8- Will planes sink in water? A8-Yes. It's possible to land safely on water and then your plane will sink (the speed of sinking depends on the aircraft type)

Q9- Will there really be an actual ground war? A9-Yes. The only limit is on the frame-rates. So we're making standard missions with a limited number of ground units. Really, in the Mission Builder, you can place thousands of ground units and all of them will begin to interact when you start the mission.

Q10- Are you going to buy a Ferrari when IL-2 turns out to be the hit of 2001? ;) A10-Too early..... Ok. At first I will think about what to develop and will accumulate resources for other/next projects, then we'll see if it is possible. But I don't dream about Ferraris; I prefer German cars in principle. The Ferrari is a toy... which in Russia isn't good to use. One of my friends, who is a really rich guy, has a Lamborghini.. He uses this car only in Summer and when it's not raining...maybe 10-20 days per year.... Really I'm dreaming about real aircraft, such as the Yak-52 which I already fly from time to time. If not - then the Audi-TT. Or- I'll make a new sim :) When is IL-2 Sturmovik scheduled for release?
