Who are we?

We are a mixed group of people, young and old, who belong to the Methodist Church in Duffield.

We all have a common purpose, we want to worship God and base our lives on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

What do we stand for?

We are an ‘Open Church’, a place of welcome for all who wish to join us on the journey of faith.

We have experienced the accepting love of God in our own lives and we want to share that love with other people.

As an Open Church we try to follow Jesus who befriended people by accepting them rather than condemning them.

We work with those who seek to build a world of peace and justice for all.

Why is being part of a Church important?

Life can be difficult, but we try to strengthen and support each other, sharing hope, peace, joy, forgiveness and above all, love.

What does the Church offer the community?

An Open Church that, reflecting what we believe about God, offers a welcome to all.  A set of premises for community use. Groups already meeting there include a ‘Mother and Toddler’ group, a dance school and an art class.  Volunteers who engage with a number of community groups.

The opportunity to offer worship to God and to mark the special stages of life through Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals.

Catering facilities for special functions in the hall

What does the Church offer older people?

The more mature members are well catered for. A special loop system is fitted in the church and school room. During the week there are various groups - the ‘Friendship Group’ and the ‘Silver Leaves’ are two examples.

Disabled access and disabled toilet facilities are also provided on the premises.

What can the Church offer families?

The Church has a young person’s group called K4C (Kids for Christ) and they meet twice a month in the schoolroom of the church during service times.

From time to time we hold a Family Breakfast Service at 9.15am - an informal act of worship and sharing that lasts about 45 minutes before ending with breakfast of bacon or sausage cobs and drinks. This is in addition to the usual, Sunday morning church service.
