30 kVdc Portable Cable Test Set Type RX30/4P
INPUT: 220/240 Vac, 50/60 Hz., Single Phase, 3 Amps.
OUTPUT: Two separate outputs are available both controlled by the single output regulator:-
A. 0 - 30 kvdc POSITIVE at 0 - 4 mA continuous rating.
B. 0 - 30 kvdc NEGATIVE at 0 - 4 mA continuous rating.
Both outputs can be used together for BETWEEN PHASE TESTING to give:-
0 - 60 kvdc at 0 - 2 mA continuous rating (+ 3OkV & - 3OkV).
The outputs are continuously variable from zero to maximum by means of the panel mounted regulator. Up to 10 mA may be drawn from either output for short term working. An output current trip is fitted which on overload switches off the test set and operates a neon indicator. The trip operates at 12 mA when only one output is being used. If both outputs are used the trip operates at 6 mA. The test set is protected by panel mounted cartridge fuses. The output is smoothed DC and can be used for testing both cables and non-capacitive circuits e.g. Busbars, Switchgear and nsulators.
METERING: The output voltages are measured directly using resin cast thick film high voltage resistors which also discharge the load when the test set is switched off. Each output has a separate kilovolt meter with an independent high voltage resistor, both are scaled 0 - 30 kvdc. Each output has a separate milliammeter to monitor the output current, both have two ranges 0 - 10 mA and 0 - I mA, the range switch is spring biased to the 10 mA range. All meters are accurate to 2.0% Fsd.
TERMINALS AND CONTROLS: The outputs are fed via recessed connectors of
in-house design arranged so as to prevent accidental contact with the high voltage output. Output control is by ON/OFF pushbutton switches which are interlocked with a zero volt microswitch. Indication of MAINS ON, EHT ON and OVERLOAD is by high brightness neon indicators. The mains input connector is a standard CEE 22 style inlet.
COMPONENT QUALITY: Professional quality components are used throughout the test set to ensure long life and good service. The HV transformer has an encapsulated winding and drives resin cast rectifiers and oil-filled capacitors. The control relays are enclosed plug-in types. The control panel is finished in light cream high gloss stoving with cutter engraved labelling.
CONSTRUCTION: The test set is mounted in an all aluminium instrument case with 2 carrying handles and a lid with cable storage.
