CHIPPENHAM 2000

I can't stand solitary
while Michael Ball
sings of how love changes all,
I need to hold a friend,
to feel her warm
against my arm,
to sense the pressure of her hand
on mine, and
I need that momentary love without end,
an encompassing emotion,
a fellow devotion,
to her, to him, to us.

Knowing this I move and hold you close,
nearby stand those
whose sensations mirror ours,
hand in hand, heart to heart,
as we encompass that part,
of a love that changes everything,
yet in itself remains unchanging.
