STOP THE ‘KILL’  BILL   - ASK YOUR MP TO STOP THE MENTAL INCAPACITY BILL COMING HERE – and contact other Parliamentary candidates in the General Election.  The Bill , without any amendments was passed in Scotland last year.  If the bill came into force here elderly people would be invited to give Continuing Powers of Attorney to someone to make healthcare decisions for them if they were incapable, EVEN TEMPORARILY SO.  These could include withdrawal of assisted feeding and hydration, so as to cause their death.  Someone who would inherit their money might be empowered to decide it was ‘in their best interest’ for them to die.

The bill also facilitates abortion and sterilisation of young incapacitated people who cannot give formal consent.  The Lord Chancellor has said he will introduce the English version of the Bill when ‘Parliamentary time allows’  THIS COULD BE SOON AFTER THE GENERAL ELECTION.

CHRISTIAN VIEWPOINT FOR MEN – (East Dorset)  - There are many men in our churches today who feel isolated.  One in every 100 men in our country today are active Christians.  The question is how do we support them  in their place of work, when they play sport, when they meet with other non-Christian men?  You are invited to a meeting on June 11th 2001 AT 6.15 pm at the Slavanka Christian Conference Centre and Hotel, 42 Belle Vue Rd, Southbourne, to a presentation by CVM.  The cost (to include tea, finger buffet and glass of wine) is £9.95.  Apply to Pramacare 1551 Wimborne Rd, Bournemouth Tel 01202 599199 (day) 01202 676736 (eve).

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SOULS OF:

ROY BARNETT – whose funeral is on Wed 16th May at 10.00.  Roy was organist at St Edmund Campion until recently

IAN DOWDALL-BROWN whose ashes were interred at North Cemetary on 10th May.

MARY O’CALLAGHAN – a former parishioner, who died on 30th April.  Her husband was a former teacher at St Walburga’s and organist at Sacred Heart.  May she rest in peace.
