The Projects

The Church in Wales Jubilee Fund currently supports four projects:

       Mobile Dental Clinic, Gaza

       Rawdat El-Zuhur School, East Jerusalem

Water, education and health access, Burkina Faso

       Help for Widows, Rwanda

Mobile Dental Clinic, Gaza

Mobile Dental Clinic, GazaThe Church in Wales Jubilee Fund works in partnership with the Near East Council of Churches (NECC) and Christian Aid to provide preventative dental services in the poorer districts of Gaza through a Mobile Dental Clinic.

The van and equipment was donated by DanChurchAid, and its running is funded through the Church in Wales Jubilee Fund, which pays for a dentist and nurse/driver, and for medical supplies.

Through its health care programme, the NECC seeks to provide the best medical care that can be offered in the situation. The facilities of the Dental Clinic are open to all in the community, regardless of religion. This is Christian witness in a Muslim community, showing the love of Jesus to all without discrimination.

Rawdat El-Zuhur School, East Jerusalem

Rawdat El-Zuhur is a Christian-led primary school, with about 250 boys and girls, aged from 4 to 12 years. They come from needy families in East Jerusalem; many of the parents are illiterate and unemployed. Rawdat El-Zuhur means ‘Garden of Flowers’, and this is a happy school, which is giving poor Jerusalem children an excellent start in life. The school relies on donations and sponsorship to ensure that the provision of quality teaching in an atmosphere of loving care is continued.

Through the Jubilee Fund, Church in Wales schools and Sunday Schools help provide educational equipment for Rawdat El-Zuhur; some schools correspond through e-mail.

Water, education and health access, Burkina Faso

The Jubilee Fund is supporting the work of the ‘Office de Développement des Eglises Evangéliques’ (ODE) in Burkina Faso, improving water, education and health access for the people of that small landlocked country in West Africa. In partnership with Christian Aid, ODE has built over 20 dams, and has helped people improve the fertility of their soil. The mission statement of ODE is ‘As a testimony of God’s love in action, ODE contributes to the economic, social, cultural and spiritual development of Burkina Faso.’

Help for Widows, Rwanda

Through Mid-Africa Ministries, part of Church Mission Society, the Church in Wales Jubilee Fund is helping widows from the Rwandan genocide in the Diocese of Byumba. The Diocese has set up self-help groups for widows and their children; the particular need is the provision of roofing material for their houses, and meeting health needs.
