INDUSTRIAL ROPE ACCESS TRADE ASSOCIATION (IRATA)
This is specialised access which is defined as access
utilising equipment and techniques other than scaffolding, ladders or platforms
as provided for in the Factories Act 1966.
Originally conceived for the off shore industry, the
IRATA qualifying courses are widely recognised as the benchmark for those
wishing to make a career in the rope access industry.
The scheme operates a three tier qualifying system.

Rope access is frequently the best option for accessing
a wide variety of structures. Often it is the only available means where
conventional methods prove impossible for one reason or another. Its is
quick compared with building a scaffolding and therefore less expensive.
It is an environmentally friendly means of access, it is extremely versatile,
cost effective. an ideal answer for gaining access to towers, cliff faces,
high rise buildings or confined space access problems.
