THE 'I AM' SAYINGS OF JESUS
The 'I AM' sayings of Jesus reveal His divinity, and are to be
found, with one exception, in the writings of John the Apostle. I AM that I AM (Exodus 3:14): God reveals Himself to Moses 3500 years ago as the Eternal One Who always has been and always is and always will be. I AM that bread of life (John 6:48): He gives us His gift of eternal life and feeds us and keeps us strong spiritually. I AM the light of the world (John 8:12): Without the Lord Jesus we live in darkness far away from God's light, life, and truth. I AM from above (John 8:23): Jesus is not of this world; i.e. this world's man-centred system that insists on doing things "my way" rather than God's way. Before Abraham was, I AM (John 8:58): This is a clear indication of the Lord's eternal divinity. I AM the door, by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved (John 10:9): The only way into God's Kingdom is through Jesus; there is no other door or way in. I AM the good shepherd (John 10:14): He knows and leads His sheep personally. I and my Father are one (John 10:30): Jesus is part of the Holy Trinity in every way. I AM the resurrection and the life (John 11:25): Eternal life is from, and found in, Jesus alone. Not one other religious leader has eternal life within himself, neither can they give it to others. I AM the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6): Please also see the witness of the apostle Peter to the same in Acts 4:10-12. I AM Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending
(Revelation 1:8). I AM the first and the last
(Revelation 1:17). (See also Revelation 22:13): There is
no-one before or after Jesus. "He which testifieth these things saith,
'Surely I come quickly'" (Revelation 22:20)
