House dust mites - Other sources of information.

Disclaimer: You will find that advice from different sources differs in detail. This may be because one expert knows more than another, or because nobody really knows for sure about some point but there are ideas about what the answer is likely to be.
Information from people who want to sell you something will obviously be given in order to encourage you to buy it. Someone with nothing to sell might not be so enthusiastic about it.
Please be realistic. Doctors do disagree, and are not always right. Some of the information from suppliers is excellent. But do rely mainly on information from people who are not trying to sell you something unless you need specific information about a product.
See it on video!
There is a superb new video for children and adults on house dust mites. It costs 9.99 pounds sterling (plus 2.50 pounds postage and packing in the UK), and stars broadcaster David Bellamy, miniaturised to get down into the mite's habitat. Its chief merits are its clarity, its simple but effective use of visual effects, and authorship by one of the foremost research workers on mite control.

An uncommonly excellent booklet from the same source as the video, available from the above address in Southampton.

Author: Dr. Jill Warner
Price: 2 pounds sterling in the UK.
A recommended book
Full of sense, unlike a lot of sources, this book costs £ 3.99. I wondered why I had not found it before, because it was published 2 years ago. For once a writer who takes notice of things serious scientists have been telling us for years. Indeed she has gone out of her way to consult people who are recognised experts before rushing into print. Refreshingly free of the myths which people would like to believe but which cause sufferers to waste money and effort on things which are at best useless and at worst constitute a way of robbing the sick to enrich rogues. An absolute bargain; other books of a similar nature sell at twice the price.
