Marion was born in March 1894. In her early years she was very intelligent and would have grown into a very academically successful woman. At the age of 10 Marion was hit as the family went down with scarlet fever. She became more ill and was left as an invalid for the rest of her life. In her last years she went blind and became very ill and distressed. Giles said that it made a great difference to family life, having so much attention paid to Marion. She died on 20 March 1914.
