Tom was born in India, the third child and second son of Berners. He was ordained priest in 1966, and since 1982 has been vicar of St Faith's Strathpine, north of Brisbane.
He married Wendy Perry in 1967 and they had ten children. This photo was taken on Wendy's 60th birthday :
