Non Nascor Mihi Solum |
Thomas Peter Hall (12 January 1929 - 24 February 2008) | |
Peter was born at Wadenhoe
in Northants, the fourth child and third son of Giles, when his parents were on leave from their work in Peking. He was at school at Chafen Grove before going to Dartmouth College to qualify as an officer in the Royal Navy where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. His treasured silver napkin ring is inscribed with the names of his ships. He married Ann Plummer in 1954 who bore him David, Stephen and Tim. After the Navy, he was bursar at Sutton Valence School. To take over the administration of the Ward-Hunt Trust, he then returned to Wadenhoe, where he was a hard-working churchwarden and a keen bellringer. When he retired for the third time, he became a volunteer with the Citizens Advice Bureau. He showed indomitable determination in fighting whatever health complication arose with no self pity, just wanting to beat it and feel better. He is buried with his beloved Ann who died in 1995 in the churchyard at Wadenhoe.
