‘Badgers’ is one of a pair of converted 18th century stone barns in the courtyard of our working organic farm. We live on the other side of the courtyard in a thatched Grade II listed farmhouse. The farm is in a picturesque spot on the edge of the village (which has a pub but no shop).

‘Badgers’ is a single storey cottage which is fitted to a high standard. The entrance lobby leads to a lovely triple-aspect living room with kitchen area overlooking the garden and courtyard. There is a twin bedroom and a shower room with basin and toilet. Ample car parking space is available in the courtyard. Other features include:

·         full central heating

·         colour TV

·         electric cooker, fridge, microwave cooker

·         washing machine and tumble dryer in laundry room

·         iron and board, kettle, toaster, coffee maker

·         private spring-water supply,

·         all linen and towels supplied, beds made up for your arrival

·         garden area with table and chairs (not suitable for young children)

·         walks around farm woodland

Just a few restrictions:

·         no smoking in the cottage or on the farm,

·         no dogs or pets are allowed.

Situation

The farm is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are glorious views of the countryside and over Eggardon hill fort. West Dorset is a superb area for walking, cycling and touring, and the coast is only 5 miles away with nice beaches and good car parking. The nearby market towns, Bridport (3 miles) and Dorchester, offer a wide range of shops. Weymouth with its sandy beach, Sherborne and Lyme Regis are all within easy reach. There are many other places to visit within an hour’s drive to interest the whole family; including Abbotsbury swannery, tythe barn and tropical gardens, Forde Abbey (RHS), Montacute House (NT), the Cerne Giant, Durdle Door, Bovington tank museum, Weymouth Sea-life centre and Yeovilton aircraft museum.

On the farm we keep rare-breed White Park Cattle with their calves. There are also chickens, dogs, cats, and abundant wildlife including owls, buzzards, badgers and foxes and many bird species.

If you would like to bring your own horse we can provide stabling, hay and straw for a small charge. Locked and covered storage for bicycles is available. We do a Friday changeover which we find to be much better with less traffic to contend with on your journey.
