The cobbler and his wife are here to meet the increased demand for shoe repairs from the soldiers. The shoes are made from two different grades of leather, stitched together with linen thread and pegged with split maple pegs. The upper is made up of a vamp and two rear quarters, which are sewn onto an insole.
