The Dentokan Goju Ryu Karate
syllabus teaches many of the kata you would find in the generic Goju
streams.
However, the execution of many of the techniques and kata differ on
occassion from the mainstream Tokyo Goju Kai standard. The way this
style is taught by Sensei Hobbs, 10th dan, in Dentokan, is the Okinawan
way which is closer to the Chinese principles and kata from which
Goju Ryu was derived and is similar to the Toguchi stream of the
style.
The syllabus
follows the generic layout set out for the karate styles studied
within Dentokan.
