| The Dentokan Shorin Ryu
Karate syllabus is based on the traditional Seidokan syllabus set out by
Sensei Shian Toma
who founded this style. It is a synthesis of the many lessons he received
of many famous Okinawan Karate and Weapons teachers. The order
of kata taught in the Solomon Islands Dentokan Federation is
slightly different to the other Dentokan dojo, to allow integration
of existing martial arts and styles. Sensei
R.J. Hobbs, 10th dan, Head of Dentokan International, and Prof.
Dr Stephen Chan, 8th dan, head of Dentokan UK, both learnt Shorin
Ryu from Shian Toma, Seiki Toma and others whilst studying in Okinawa.
The syllabus follows the generic layout set out
for the karate styles studied within Dentokan.
