Ecological
Impact Assessment
The Practice has been responsible
for the ecological impact assessment of highway schemes, including
undertaking Phase and Phase 2 habitat surveys, and National
Vegetation Classification assessments. The assessments have included
recommendations for mitigation proposals, in conjunction with the
landscape mitigation measures.
Anthony Stiff has also been
responsible for the coordination of ecological issues into larger
environmental studies, particularly highway and port projects. For
the latter, issues have included terrestrial and marine aspects of
ecology.
Recent commissions for
ecological work have included:
- Shenley Common Farm, Milton
Keynes ñ assessment of potential impact of new housing on
Site of Special Scientific Interest for the Commission for New
Towns
- Assessment of potential mixed
development site for English Partnerships in Crawley, including
site of Local Nature Conservation Interest.
- Stoke Hammond Bypass,
Buckinghamshire
- A69 Haltwhistle Bypass
- Blue Circle, Northfleet Works,
Kent
Ecological
Monitoring and Reporting
The practice has been responsible
for the ecological monitoring of the A69 Haltwhistle Bypass in
Northumberland. In particular the supervision and monitoring over
three years of the success of translocated metallophyte turf.
