Experience

Full Environmental Impact Assessments

Anthony Stiff has been responsible for the project management of major environmental studies in the UK and overseas. Pulling together multi-disciplinary teams to produce a coordinated assessment requires special expertise. Good communication and management of people are essential, together with the ability to meet deadlines and budgetary requirements.

Projects have included numerous assessments for the Highways Agency throughout the UK, for local authorities, ports authorities, and private clients.

 

All projects have involve the production of an Environmental Statement or report, and Anthony Stiff has been responsible for the production, or editing of the final document, and for producing the landscape and visual assessments. Anthony Stiff Associates have also produced the planning and ecological inputs to several large studies. The Practice has also been responsible for the production and coordination of proofs of evidence and Anthony Stiff has acted as Expert Witness at Public Inquiry.

Preparation of feasibility report on behalf of Pell Frischmann Consultants for major leisure and recreation facility in Aqaba, Jordan, including analysis of major environmental issues for the subject of an environmental assessment.

Also experience of environmental assessment of major port projects in Cyprus and Tanzania.

Landscape Assessment

The range of work has included strategic landscape character assessments; visual impacts assessments including comprehensive studies to ascertain the suitability of sites for development.

Recent work has included landscape assessments for major housing sites in the Midlands and the South-East (for English Partnerships), for mineral extraction and for a golf course overlooking the Dreaming Spires of Oxford.

 

Landscape assessments are carried out by the Practice using the latest guidelines published by the Countryside Commission and the Landscape Institute/Institute of Environmental Assessment, tailored to the specific characteristics of the site concerned.
