AVEBURY AND UFFINGTON WHITE HORSE Guided tour of Avebury Stone Circles and area. White Horses, Silbury Hill, West Kennett Longbarrow, the Sanctuary, Avebury Stone Circles. Time permitting, on to Uffington White Horse, possibly 3,000 plus years old, and Dragon Hill and Uffington Castle Hillfort. Wonderful evocative and scenic area.
GLASTONBURY/KING ARTHUR ALTERNATIVES Glastonbury area for guided tour. Possible visit to Cadbury Hillfort en route (possible historical Camelot). Chalice Well Gardens, the Abbey, Wearyall Hill (the Joseph of Arimathea legend), Pomparles Bridge and site of Bride's Mound if possible, Holy Thorns. Alternative possibility a visit to Barrowbridge Mump, one of the sites on the great St. Michael Ley Line (the Dragon Path). Other possibilities, including Wells Cathedral, Nunney Castle. MAGICAL MAZES AND WINCHESTER Visit to Winchester. A long climb to mystical place of the centuries old St. Catherine's Mizmaze (this can be walked). Winchester Cathedral, King Arthur's Round Table, Jane Austin's House. Return to Salisbury area and then a visit to Breamore Mizmaze (unknown age, 84ft. diameter), said to be the most exceptional of surviving English turf mazes - interestingly within a yew tree woodland. Visit Anglo Saxon church with ancient yew tree. Breamore House stately home in summer season.
STONEHENGE AND OLD SARUM (half-day tour) Visit to Stonehenge for fully guided tour. Time and stamina permitting, visit some of the round barrows and tumuli or site of the cursus on foot. Visit Woodhenge, and Old Sarum and then to Salisbury and perhaps Cathedral vicinity. Strongly recommend museum.
