Throughout history man has exploited the Duck - we have eaten it, slept on it, fed it in
the park
kept it as a pet, shot at it for sport, and made a fortune from stuffing it and putting it
on display.
So why should this story be any different? Well I will tell you why, because for the
first time I can
reveal the strategic importance the Duck played in the struggle between the Roms and the
Bits.
If it wasn't for the Duck then the Bits might have failed to eject the Roms from Britain -
but
that's another story. What we can confirm , without risk of contradiction is that the Duck
preceded the Pigeon as the first Postal Service. And here we see The Great Nerd
giving the very first Carrier Duck that all important invitation to Clara Loft (Romraider)
to the join the expedition in search of the recipe for Broon Ale.

While Clara is of course flattered to be asked, she also has an interest
in securing the recipe because it seems her own personal stock of the famous
Brew has all but gone. She immediately packs a suitcase and sets off
for the long hard trek north to Whitley Bay. She will of course
be following the original Roman Road, parts of which now form the
modern day A1. Although some might argue that the
further North you drive the more difficult it becomes to find any
improvements over 2,000 years other than a multitude of Speed Traps
leading into the Border Region. Ah! but such is life.
