Following the unprecedented lack of response from visitors to this site the Editor has decided to reply to the three communications received so far:-
Dear Baz, my husband and I intend to tour Northumberland on a tandem this summer and we would be grateful for directions to Hardup Hall. Incidentally is it true that you can use a teabag more then once.
E H Essex ( Full name and address withheld)
Have you by any chance read the story of Lorna Doone ? Well I'm afraid the village of Hardup is just as elusive as that in the novel. It does not feature in the National Trusts guide to Historical sites of outstanding beauty and surprisingly it is not listed in Yellow Pages. However if you do stumble across it on your travels then please let me know and I will post the details for other would be visitors. Re your question on teabags - The answer is yes you can re-use them but I understand they benefit from being dried out on a radiator between each dipping. Ed
Dear Baz, I live in East Anglia where we are surrounded by references to Queen Boadicea ( Boudica) who led a revolt of the Iceni against the Romans in AD60/61. Is it possible you are confusing your Queen Bodemenia with this person?
Gertrude Hardbottle (Mrs) Secretary of the Queen Boadicea Appreciation Society
Certainly not, and in any case Queen Bodemenia was a Geordie who watched football on a Saturday and drank copious amounts of Newcastle Brown Ale as proved by the numbers of empty bottles that still keep turning up in the region . I rest my case. Ed
Dear Baz, It was reported in the press yesterday that Damien Hirst the Artist responsible for works which have included dead animals has sold at auction a 'medicine cabinet' stocked with approximately £500 worth of prescribed drugs for £188,500. In view of Sir Jeremy's present financial situation could he not be persuaded to offer up for sale his own medicine cabinet as a work of art ?
Concerned , Bradford.
Dear Concerned, thank you for your suggestion and expression of concern. Yes I saw that report too and indeed as I make this response I have it in mind to produce an animated GIF of a medicine cabinet, do nothing in particular, which viewers can download for a modest donation of say £1.88p for inclusion on their own site. A friend has even suggested a 'screensaver' on the same theme and /or a competition for the best computer medicine cabinet - any offers? Ed
PS Incidentally at the same auction, a sculpture by the Cuban artist
Felix Gonzalez-Torres consisting of 50lb of Boiled sweets worth about £100 strewn
across the floor fetched £106,000! Ed
More on Teabags
On the teabag front me and the wife prefer to drip dry them in the open air, you seem
to get a little more body
with them..A little tip if you are after a herbal tea but only have plain old PGs just
soak your teabag and place in the tumble
drier with a sheet of bounce conditioner..hey presto herbal tasting tea.
Martin Gauntlett M.A.Gauntlett@btinternet.com
Nice suggestion Martin and may I suggest you rush out and register the patent for
this new and innovative use for 'bounce' before its manufacturers catch on. Re the
problem with the gifs on Episode 6 - I must decline to comment
as it may prejudice the so-far futile efforts to put it right. Ed
