Dorset House, was purchased by the MOD in 1950 to house the HQ of the Bristol Royal Marine reserves.

In response to a brief to refurbish and extend the outmoded property, BGP McConaghy Architects have proposed substantial internal and external refurbishment of the existing house. In addition to this, the existing garage will be replaced by a new 690m² extension located mainly underground and linked into the basement of the existing building.

BGP McConaghy Architects was able to draw on its substantial experience to present a scheme that both secures the existing fabric through renovation and enriches it by the subtle introduction of a new building into a conservation area.
