Barlaston Hall
Grade 1 listed Barlaston Hall was designed by Robert Taylor and built in the 1750s. Having fallen into serious disrepair, the main house was rescued by SAVE and subsequently completely restored by its current owners.
BGP McConaghy Architects were asked to design new support buildings including garages, stables and a workshop to replace those lost to the house when the estate was split up earlier this century. The new buildings have both a direct and a conceptual relationship with the house. Through careful negotiation with both the client and planners, BGP McConaghy Architects produced a design that centres around the main North / South axis of the hall, enriching the setting of the grade 1 listed building.
