Programme Schedule 2001 Aims The Nunnery is an artist lead project-base gallery that is supported and administered by the Bow Arts Trust. The Nunnery aims, through its exhibition programme to: _ provide exhibition opportunities for established and unknown artists; _ explore and support excellence and originality within all areas of fine art practice (painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, installation, video and new media, as well as some performing arts); _ encourage and support discussion and debate about the importance and relevance of contemporary art within contemporary culture; _ act as a tool to support BAT partnerships and create new ones that will help to deliver and support the aims and objectives of BAT; _ and as the most visible part of BAT, develop its relationship with the local community, particularly in respect of raising the cultural profile of Bow and in support of neighbourhood renewal. Exhibition Policy The Nunnery operates two programmes: the Primary Programme and the Secondary Programme. |

| The Primary Programme The Primary Programme has four fixed slots within each calendar year. Two of these slots are used by the Bow Arts Trust - the annual Bow Arts Trust Open Studios Exhibition, and a Nunnery curated exhibition. The two remaining slots are allocated to proposals. It is important to note that The Nunnery does not accept applications for exhibitions from individual artists for its Primary Programme, but encourages written representation (including visual documentation) from groups of artists and curators. Applications should be clear and concise and outline initial thinking, aims and objectives of an exhibition, the artists included, a publicity strategy, and what funding the project may attract. The Nunnery has limited programme funds, and applicants will be asked to consider how they might be able to provide financial support, but The Nunnery will aim to work in partnership with successful applicants to support the cost of an exhibition. Successful applicants will be required enter into contract with the Bow Arts Trust, by way of a commitment to an exhibition at The Nunnery, and also to work with the Manager of the Bow Arts Trust and the curator of The Nunnery during preparation, installation and supervision of an exhibition. The Secondary Programme The Nunnery has no reliable funding stream and it is necessary, for the long term future of the gallery, to raise revenue through the gallery. The Secondary Programme, effectively the gaps left from the Primary Programme within a calendar year, is a fluid programme and encourages applications for the use of the gallery from individuals (artists and curators), organisations and bodies that are able to fund the entire cost of the use of the space, including hire fees and running costs.
