Our first slideshow for this season 2009/2010:

BRITISH RAILWAYS STEAM ON LOCAL LINES
and
AN EXCURSION TO THE SOUTHERN REGION

BY RICHARD GREENWOOD

Saturday 14th November 2009

Richard's show tonight will show some local slides from 1959 onwards and other parts of British Railways in search of steam, including an excursion to the Southern Region for steam.

With Richard's knowledge of steam locomotives and his long association with the Worth Valley Railway, we will be in for an interesting night with, I am sure, many tales highlighting his collection of slides.

A full programme of our slide shows is in preparation at the moment and will be available on the night or you can e-mail me at: mike10fmpd@tiscali.co.uk for a copy.

We ask this season for a donation entry of £3.00, which will include a cup of tea on entry and a free raffle ticket. (You can buy more if you wish). Pie and peas and tea, provided as usual by the ladies from the Church, will be £2.00 (pay on arrival). Part of the Church at the back has now been converted to a sitting area with a sofa, so there will be more room for you all now.

The tea rooms at Irwell Vale are open most Sundays throughout the year from 1.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. if you are in the area walking or photographing and are excellent value for money, with a good selection of home made cakes.

Please let your friends know of our slide shows for 2009/10 and, if you want any more programmes, please contact Mike Taylor on Burnley 01282 436653 or e-mail – mike10fmpd@tiscali.co.uk
