I have seen Lord of The Dance three times. I think you are the greatest tap dancer in the world love from James Johnstone (aged 7) James Johnstone 193.149.83.216 <laurencejohnstone@msn.com> London, Great Britain - Saturday, January 17, 1998 at 00:08:07 (PST)
I have had many pleasant surprises in my life but none that made such an impact as Lord of the Dance. I had never seen Irish dancing before but from what I have learnt since it would see Michael has done for the dance what Torville & Dean did for the ice dance. I wrote in this only 2 minutes ago and somehow I managed to forget the all important factor that after the show Michael was signing autographs, I joined a huge crowd of people thinking that I would never get to see him but I did, unfortunately I didn't have a programme at the time so he signed my arm.WWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! Hayley 195.232.17.55 - Saturday, January 17, 1998 at 11:48:44 (PST) Saw the show on Thursday 15th @ Wembley.... the 5 hr coach trip was too long, the seats could have been better, but the show.... how spectacular! A tribute to Michaels genius...he is a god! Riverdance? Lord of the Dance! Was sick that Michael was signing autographs but we had to get on the coach & couldn't see him. would NOT go on coach again! I wonder if he will do another tour of the UK? Katie Hicks 206.175.206.115 <cortexdrilling@compuserve.com> Yeovil, Somerset UK - Saturday, January 17, 1998 at 12:29:07 (PST)

Went to LOTD Sat. 17.1.98 and it was absolutely brilliant. Clapping and the standing ovation just didn't seem adequate for the fantastic effort put in by everyone in the show it was a dream come true. I still can't believe we were really there. Well done Michael I think you are an amazing person and a truly brilliant dancer. The only thing that would have made my evening any better would have been to meet you afterwards - maybe one day.....? Hello there I have just seen Michael Flatley and his wonderful Lord of the Dance for the third time in the UK and am still totally amazed at the sheer genius of the man. A regular theatre and pop concert attendee, I have seen several excellent shows, but none have received the response he does from his audience, time and time again. I am looking forward to going to see him again in Feburary, and I hope it won't be the last time. If I were ever lucky enough to have three wishes, it would be to meet and talk with three people I very much admire and respect. Michael Flatley is at the top of that list, followed by the still very handsome and talented American actor David Hedison, and the British Entrepreneur, Richard Branson. If only ............ We love you Michael. Val Raven. Val Raven 195.232.30.107 - Sunday, January 18, 1998 at 16:17:07 (PST)
I remember there was talk about a movie based on Lord Of The Dance, why haven't us in the UK heard any more about it? By the way, Michael, great show!! Joanne Harvey 194.83.132.10 <jch1979@hotmail.com> Staffs, England - Monday, January 19, 1998 at 03:24:53 (PST)
Hiya folks... well, I'm not normally renowned for my long posts, but here goes! Picture the scene... 6pm yesterday evening, Annmarie and I were sat at home looking forward to a lazy evening in front of the television. We were sad that we hadn't been able to get to any of the Wembley shows, and hadn't met any of the VB'ers, especially those who'd come over from the States. And then, in one of those mad moments that only happen once in a while, we jumped up and decided to get in the car and drive the 300 miles to Wembley Arena to see which VB'ers we could find!! After a four and a half hour drive in the pouring rain (yes of course I stuck to the speed limit! Well, sometimes...) we arrived at Wembley Arena around 10.30pm to find the place looking decidedly deserted - the show was long finished! After a hurried (and rather wet) walk around the outside of the Arena, our fears were realised.... there was nobody there!! Nightmare! Such a long drive and no sign of anyone (sob!) Rather dejected, we headed back to the car, and set off to leave the Arena complex. As a last resort, and for a final check, we drove down a deserted, darkened road which ran alongside the Arena... and to our surprise we saw, stood in the rain near some large iron gates, two ladies with large umbrella's! Could these be VB'ers? How could we tell? There was only one thing for it - pull up and ask! I guess it was the American accent that gave Kathleen - the VB's Queen of Doggerel - away, and it was great to finally meet her after her 50th Lord of the Dance show! Also Keko (spelling?) from San Fransisco! Within a few minutes, there were more VB'ers there... Maria from Brussels, Linda (and mum) and Vanessa from the UK, Christina, Beverley, and I'm sure there were others too - it was great to meet everyone!! It was bitterly cold and pouring with rain but everyone was really friendly... it was as if we had known everyone for years! The troupe had left before we arrived, but Michael was still inside, and it was pretty clear that despite the cold, no-one was leaving until they'd seen him! After about half an hour the band came out, and said hi to everyone and were really friendly before wandering off. As time went on Annmarie and I were becoming concerned at the prospect of the long drive home again (it was now almost 11.30pm) and were just getting ready to leave when the gates opened, and a large limo pulled up with Michael Flatley at the wheel!! Of course, all the ladies crowded up to the drivers window, and Michael was happy to chat and sign programmes etc. Annmarie took loads of photo's (which I am going to scan and will have on-line today hopefully) and even got a kiss from Michael! She was really pleased!! Anyway, then he drove off (not before saying a personal 'Goodnight Angel' to Keko (!!) ) and everyone said their goodbyes and left. We had a last chat with Kathleen and Keko as we gave them a lift back to their hotel (it was pouring down!!) and then set off for home, finally arriving back at 5.30am! Anyway, I know that 'meeting' news from UK shows has been a bit scarce over the past day or two so hopefully this should let you all know that the VB'ers are still alive and kicking here in England!!! I'm going to put the film in on a one-hour processing over lunchtime today, so hopefully the pics will be available on my site later today! I must admit it was strange standing back in the pouring rain watching the VB'ers pouring over Michaels limousine as he came out of the Arena, but he seemed genuinely pleased to see them all! Anyway, sorry for the long post, and forgive me if I've waffled a bit in places - I have matchsticks holding my eyes open! Check out my site for the latest tour dates as ever, and those photos will hopefully be available later today! (Ed: I would hereby like to nominate Jeremy and Annmarie as THE VBers of the YEAR!!! An 11 hour round trip, not to see the show, but to hopefully see some VBers that they had never met and didn't even know if they were going to find! Michael, of course was then the icing on the cake!!! WTG Jeremy and Annmarie, you are tru VBers!!!!!! Back to the posts)
Sunday's Lord of the Dance Wembley - Brian and I met up with Christina, Beverley and Maria from Belgium ( so lovely to meet up her after all our months of corresponding) at the Hilton we had a quick drink then braved the weather. The wind was enough to blow you away and driving rain so different from Birmingham. We had good seats but took our binoculars just in case, we waved to Maria down below and could just make out Beverley and Christina in the 2nd Row, lucky girls. The show was wonderful as ever, the Wembley crowd really gave back a lot of energy Michael seemed really chuffed. After Victory the audience continued to cheer. stamp their feet and applaud right up to Planet Ireland where they had a standing O much deserved. Michael seemed so happy - the lady next to me thank goodness was making as much noise as me when the show finished we both sat down exhausted anyone would have thought it had been us up and dancing. Brian loved the show and like me couldn't believe how quickly it had flown by. His favourite is Gillian Norris - but admitted that Catriona Hale "was a bit of alright" -excuse the english term. We had made arrangements at Interval time with Linda UK to meet up with her party (Her Mum, Aunty and friend Julie) straight after the show with Maria. We all ceremoniously put on our VB Shamrocks and then headed for the front of the Arena where we hoped to meet up with the rest of the Troupe. Michael at this time was signing autographs this had been announced over the loud speaker system CAN YOU IMAGINE THE WORLD AND HIS WIFE TURNED UP. We didn't bother as we knew we wouldn't stand a chance. I don't know what happend but we only managed to see two dancers that night who were only to willing to sign Katie Martin and Sarah Clarke(I think). So we prepared ourselves best we could for the weather it was absolutely teaming down and freezing into the bargain - but we were Flatheads with a mission to boldly go and seek out Our Michael we were not to be put off easy. Where we reached the point where Michael comes out Kako (I hope that is spelt right) Katherine Queen of Doggrel on her 50th Show and surprise surprise - Jeremy and Ann Marie were already there. We all got on famously and were all fooling about in the rain taking pictures etc., I suppose we waited for over an hour, I know my feet had gone dead. But low and behold a lovely car started towards the gates, now I know I am not quite sure whether this was a Rolls Royce or a Bentley but we all nearly fell on the floor when we noticed Michael in the driver's seat (Emma was by his side). Now the next bit is a bit hazy (Why does this happen when you have waited for months and months for this moment to happen, it finally does you are completely over come by the situation) Anyway Michael wound down the window and said Hi thanks for waiting. I think Linda's Mum was the first to approach him - bless her I am sure Linda will confirm this and don't know what was said. I managed somehow to move my feet in the direction of the open window - What a sight - such blue eyes, what a tan he's so gorgeous I can't remember my exact words but I did get and autograph and a KISS. Such soft lips I remember closing my eyes I can kick myself now. He signed a few more people's autographs and then disappeard into the night. We all stood there not really beliving what had happened Linda, Maria and I gave each other a big bear hug. I think we were all shaking not just because of the cold. We said our goodbyes to Linda, Her Mum, Aunty and Julie and went back for a quick warm up coffee with Maria, Christina, Beverly to the Hilton to relive the memory.(Sorry Jeremy I didn't see you go). What a wonderful night we will remember for ever. Love Vanessa Vanessa 195.147.13.113 <brivan@globalnet.co.uk> Hemel Hempstead - Monday, January 19, 1998 at 06:19:16 (PST)
