Welcome

The Online Fellwalking Club was founded in April 2001 at the height of the Foot and Mouth Epidemic to give fell and hillwalkers like myself the chance to pacify their inaction on the peaks during that sorry time. With the passing of the crisis the club continued flourish.  Over the past two and a half years or so the membership has grown to over 300 with members in the UK as well as abroad.  Although much of the action takes place on the main Yahoo! site the  'Sister' site is now growing to become an archive and place to add useful links to places in the virtual world.

The page will benefit strongly from input from the club and it is envisaged that the site will evolve as a direct consequence of input from the membership.  I would be indebted to members, or visitors alike, who suggest material that could be placed on site.  Suggestions could be favourite messages and photographs from the site, web links, books and gear to recommend and of course the inclusion of detailed walk routes and descriptions.

I know that with the enthusiasm on offer in the club,  this site will flourish. In the words of Alfred Wainwright, "Fellwalking is action, and fellwalking is fun", but sometimes it's the recollection and planning that we also enjoy,

Ad altiora!
