The Combination of foam and pressurised air operates in a similar way to a home sprung mattress, but using an opposite mechanism. The home sprung mattress is composed of an inner core of springs compressing foam layers against a textile mattress case. The comfort is provided by the compressed foam. In the comfort mat the foam is glued to the inner thermoplastic material of the fabric. The inner pressure acting on the fabric keeping the foam under tension. When a body lies over the mat the pressure increase caused, acts in the same direction as to increase foam tension. At any time the uncomfortable foam soft touch is avoided. Thus using a reverse mechanism, tensioned foam instead of compressed foam . A compact reduced volume mattress is obtained. Technical Characteristics : Basically Self inflating mats use a simple device composed of three components An outer shell, a foam core and an inflating valve. The outer shell : It is composed of a synthetic tissue coated with a thermoplastic air impervious layer. Two different types are available : 1) Compact Mat : Fabric is made of polyester, it is much more rub resistant than Polymide (Nylon) . Volumised threads to get a better non-glidding properties. Available in 1.2 meters & 1.6 meters. 2) Skin Mat : Aimed at specialists where minimum load and bulk is needed. Extraordinary adherence to sleeping bag fabric. Totally non-glidding. Length 1.6 meters The Foam Core : Is a low density PU Foam. The Valve : Fine regulating valve with elastic O rings. Two piece cap for improved performance when blowing / deflating the mattress. |
