VOLGA-DNEPR AIRLINES
OUTSIZED CARGO CARRIERS
Volga-Dnepr Airlines is the world’s leading outsized cargo carrier.
We specialise in transporting super-heavy
and outsized cargo and operate the world’s largest fleet of Antonov AN-124-100
aircraft.
The company was founded in 1990 as the first private Russian airline not related
to Aeroflot.
Today we operate ten Stage 3 compliant AN-124-100 freighters and three IL-76TDs.
The carrier also operates three passenger-carrying YAK-40s.
All the AN-124s and at least one
IL-76 have been modified to comply fully with international standards and regulations.
Upgrades include improved engine and airframe service life, avionics and systems
including TCAS.
We build sky bridges for unique loads, helping to save time and opening new
business horizons for our partners.
MEETING HEAVY
CARGO DEMANDS
What differentiates our services from the services offered by other airlines?
For 10 years we have been ensuring prompt and reliable airlifts for cargo of almost any kind, size and weight: outsize and heavy machinery, general and volumetric cargo, airplanes and engines, satellites and rocket sections, cars and locomotives, factories and plants.
OIL AND GAS
TRANSPORTATION
No other charter air carrier has such experience in the transportation of outsize
and heavy oil equipment.
A unique advantage of Volga-Dnepr and its AN-124-100 aircraft is the capability
to move outsize and heavy industrial equipment.
The huge capacities offered by our
AN-124-100s allow us to airlift most of the equipment without prior partial
dismantling.
This advantage, combined with capability to carry loads weighing up to 120t
and proprietary on-board loading equipment, has made Volga-Dnepr’s freighters
an indispensable component of the logistic system for the oil and gas industries.
HELPING POWER INDUSTRIES
With our assistance
British Petroleum was able to start exploration of the El Yopal oil field in
Colombia two years earlier than originally planned.
On our wings automobile productions were transferred from Europe to Latin America.
We transported turbines and power generators for Siemens, Mitsubishi and other
companies that provide electricity and heat in many cities worldwide.
Volga-Dnepr Airlines has a steady
demand for the transportation of oil and gas extracting equipment into Russia
and CIS countries.
Volga-Dnepr has performed a lot of flights to move drilling, oil field, oil
processing and gas treating equipment, as well as heavy-duty trucks and bulldozers,
including the following large-scale airlift operations:
Geco Prackla – 1992 –
from Calgary, Canada to Surgat, Russia
ODI Dynamics – 1993 – from Talsa, USA to Nizhevartovsk, Russia
FIP Industries – 1997 – from Venice, Italy to Baku, Azerbaijan
Industrial and oil gas equipment accounted for 13% of the loads carried by Volga-Dnepr
in 2000.
INVESTING IN MODERNISATION
Volga-Dnepr was one
of the first to initiate the modernisation of An-124-100 aircraft. Since 1990
the company has invested about 60 million dollars in the acquisition and modernisation
of aircraft. The company’s whole An-124-100 fleet conform to Chapter 3
noise standards. All the aircraft are equipped with radio stations of 8.33kHz
frequency grid, and have navigation equipment supporting organised flight tracking.
The service life for the airframe and engines was extended to 24,000 hours in
2000.
