How did you get into Quake and
Team Fortress? |
I started playing
TF after being a Beta tester for the game about 3 years
ago. |
|
What is your favourite TF class? |
My favourite class
is the Scout because its the fastest and makes it hard
for your opponents to hit you. |
|
You play a lot of Mega-TF - what
is the attraction of the game for you, and do you think
it is better than regular TF? |
I used to play a
lot of Mega TF because it was something new. The only
problem with it is that with everyone spamming, the
server gets too laggy. I prefer standard TF. |
|
How did clan Satanic Verses come
into existence? |
Satanic Verses
started at the same time as TF did. I had joined a Uk
clan and was fed up with the lack of team play that was
around, so I searched the net for 1/2 decent players and
made up a pretty good team. Since then, we enter all the
USA leagues and win cash prizes and trophies. |
|
SV were a force playing on the net
before you expanded into Wireplay. What made you move
across to Wireplay? |
When Wireplay
started, I saw an advert and decided to give it a try. At
that time, you could get pings of 130 so I decided to
start a Wireplay clan off. |
|
How many of the current SV
Wireplayers came across in that original wave? |
Hmm, to start with
there were 5 players, after a few months some left and
others came from net to replace them. Nowadays, there is
only myself who plays in both clans as being in both was
too time consuming for most people :-) |
|
A lot of people on Wireplay,
myself included, fully expected SV to win the first TF
league, but the title eventually went to AVA. Why do you
think that AVA won and not SV? |
Hehe, well win
some lost some :-) Came 2nd, but would have won if we
didn't have to replay a match with AvA (and I would like
to point out that they used 3 players who were not
registered in the league for the last 3 weeks and if
those had not taken part Sv would have won our matches
against them and so would have Vod ) |
|
Do you think SV have improved
enough to wrestle the title away from AVA in the upcoming
season? |
Sv has always been
a top clan, but during the last league there was some
major problems with admining the matches and playing in
them, so that's why we lost. I didn't have the time to do
everything :-( This next league though, I wont be
taking part, [Sv] Broo will be running the Clan in my
absence while I play in the USA TF Open league which
starts soon. |
|
SV and AVA are probably considered
to be favorites to win this season, but do you see any
other clans having a realistic attempt on the title? |
Vod are very good
and so are Plz, either one of these clans should do very
well in the league |
|
Which non-SV players do you rate
the most on Wireplay? |
There are lots of
good players on Wireplay. Some of the best players are
[Vod] Wolfe, [Plz] Manstorm, [Plz] Storman, [Rvm] Red Hot
Pepper, Chippy, [Mp] Lord Caliburn (even is he does
annoy people too much). |
|
Who's the best TF player you have
ever seen over the net or Wireplay? |
That's a tough
one, it not anyone on Wp as there are much better players
on the Net. I would probably say a guy called Secret as
he is excellent at every class and works well as part of
a team. |
|
Some of the clans from Wireplay
have recently played matches against the Spice Girls, one
of the top net clans. AVA, PLZ and a Wireplay Elite team
have all lost heavily to SG, and I see that you have
challenged them to a 3 game series. Do you think you can
do better against them than the other Wireplay teams? |
Yeah I reckon Sv
Net clan could do the business against them, but maybe
not the Wp side. Caliburn did challenge them to some
matches but the rest of the clan bitched about it. |
|
I watched the demo of SG against
PLZ on Well6, and SG seemed to play unusual tactics. Lots
of soldiers in defense, but no demoman or HW Guys, which
is very unlike how the Wireplay clans generally play. Do
you think this is a general tactic employed by a lot of
net clans, or is it unique to SG? |
Its a classic net
strategy, because basically the HWGUY is a complete waste
of code. |
|
Are SV happy to stay on Wireplay,
or will you be joining the UKTFL? |
Most of Wireplay's
Sv are happy to stay on Wp, but we wont ever play in the
UKTFL. There is no real point in playing it, you are
better off entering the Usa open Tourneys. |
|
I see that Caliburn has left SV on
a rather sour note. What's the story there? |
Nothing much, he
has just had enough of the Wireplay side of the clan and
is going to the Net side of Sv as Spy. |
|
You seem to have a lot of
influence at Wireplay with the TF scene, and the way
things are set up. What exactly is your role with them? |
Top secret :-) |
|
Are there any TF maps you have
seen which you would like to introduce to Wireplay? |
Good maps are few
and far between, but when some good maps turn up, they go
on Wireplay. |
|
On a topical note, there is a lot
of discussion on the Quake scene about cheating. What do
you consider to be cheating? For example, do you think
water-hacked maps is cheating? |
Water hacked maps
are not really cheating as they give the same effect as a
GL Quake. The really cheating are things like Hacked maps
in general (ie holes in walls ), Autoaim bots and most
other proxies. |
|
Should the England football team
play in White or Red shirts, or don't you care? |
White definitely. |
|
Thank you Satan. |
