Anwar only played a bit-part in our 1995 campaign, and he had vanished by 1997 (allegedly behind a bus). As the last confirmed entries, he and Roger played half a match each, and made a minimal contribution. Since 1995 was our teething year it must be understood that the atmosphere was very daunting, as was the prospect of playing in a fully competitive adults' tournament, and this had an adverse effect on many of our performances.
For the games he played, Anwar was in defence with me, and we struggled to contain the opposition. However, he played solidly and reliably in what is a very thankless task (as Sol Campbell knows having to play alongside Ramon Vega!), and could hold his head up as high as the rest of us for the effort, spirit and commitment shown.
I'm sorry there is nothing more to mention about Anwar's play but, if you are reading this Anwar, get in touch and let me know what you'd like to be added. Unconfirmed rumours have surfaced that Anwar may indeed be considering a comeback before the 1998 tournament. Keep checking back for updates!!!
