Kenny made a brief but valuable contribution to the SD cause this summer, with two substitute appearances including one in the tournament final. His debut came when Joseph received the ball in a rather delicate area after a defender's hurried clearance, the referee deemed him unfit to continue, and on came our supersub. Despite not getting on the scoresheet, Kenny played well as a makeshift striker/midfielder, and also avoided getting a similar injury to Joseph which would undoubtedly have led to some pretty awful South Park jokes.
When Kenny came on in extra time in the final (replacing the exhausted Morgan), he immediately went on a breathtaking run which saw him beat two men before having his goalbound shot charged down. Neutrals and supporters alike applauded this effort as the word spread round that he was only 15 (Arsene Wenger would love to "get his hands on him"... allegedly!), and several scouts were keen to sign up both him and our star 'keeper Cammo.
All in all, a great debut for a player who promises to be a future star of SD.
2000 Update
Y2K saw Kenny having a more prominant role in the fortunes of SD, playing some part in every game of the tournament. His only goal came in the 6-0 victory over Imaginary Madrid, but this was the culmination of a lot of hard work in the preceeding games. During this match, Kenny played up front with Sandeep, and his goal came courtesy of a one-two with his strike partner before he slide bravely on the sand-covered astroturf to meet the return pass and beat the 'keeper. The joy in the SD camp was there for all to see as Kenny finally broke his duck, and not one South Park joke was uttered in tribute to our rising star. Kenny is undoubtedly looking forward to having an even greater impact in 2001!
