Queen + Greatest Hits III is in the shops now! It claims to "Complete the Trilogy" and contains solo hits by Brian and Freddie, along with collaborations with Elton John, David Bowie, Montserrat Caballe, Wyclef Jean and George Michael.
The tracklisting is reasonable, but there are very few "big name" hits meaning that this is unlikely to appeal to the passing fan, yet it also is not appealing to the hardcore fan who has all the albums! Just who this album is targeted at is a bit of a mystery. One gem on the album, however, is the remixed Under Pressure featuring unreleased vocals and new guitar and drumwork by Brian and Roger. It's released as a single on December 6th so let's hope it charts high!
To date, the GH+ III album peaked at number 4 in the UK album charts. Not bad considering it has had very little airplay and promotion has been next to nothing. Perhaps the Queen + idea is a forerunner to a future album which will have new songs written by Queen, and performed with guest vocalists. We'll wait and see!
