Introduction.

"Just Talk" is the Pre-Pay scheme from Orange. No contract is required and you are free to top up airtime as and when you want. You simply purchase a special phone package, or re-connect a second hand phone and buy a Just Talk connection pack (currently £14.99 including ten minutes of calls).

Because there is no commitment and no credit check - this will be an idea gift idea. It also means that anyone who has failed a credit check, or been asked to pay a hefty deposit, can now join the network.

When talk time has been used up, or has expired, you can still receive incoming calls and make emergency calls for a further three months without buying any more talk time. After this time, you will be disconnected. To reconnect, you must pay the reconnection fee and buy more talk time in order to continue on the Just Talk system.

The Service.

Aside from being able to make normal voice calls, it is important to note that the following services are not available to "Just Talk" users:

• International Calls
• Premium Rate Calls
• International Roaming
• Orange Additional Services (e.g. messaging, assistant)
• Fax & Data
• Text Messaging (messages can be received)
• Extended Warranty & Insurance (although this can be purchased separately for £50).

The Charges.

There is no initial connection fee, but the phone must be registered by making a free call to 450 from your Just Talk handset.

The phone packages comes complete with 10 minutes of airtime.. Further airtime can be purchased for the following charges.

As you can see, you can therefore have a phone for a complete year for £200 pounds, along with 800 minutes (enough for about 2 minutes of calls per day) if you pay more upfront.

The 10-30 minute cards will work out very expensive if you need to top up more than once a month.

Questions & Answers.

• If I add more minutes before my talk time has expired what happens?
  New minutes will be added to your existing balance of minutes. This new balance will roll over for the remaining validity period of the current Just Talk card, or the validity period of the new Just Talk card - whichever is the longer. For example; If you purchase a Just Talk 200 card and on the 80th day have a balance of 10 minutes - then register a Just Talk 30 card - the whole balance of 40 minutes will roll over for 30 days.

• How do I buy more minutes?
  Just Talk cards are available from participating "Filling Stations" nationwide (which includes ourselves). These include Orange stockists, participating Post Offices and other high street retailers. Alternatively, you can call 450 from your Just Talk handset and purchase minutes by credit or debit card.

• Can I get the Extended Warranty & Insurance, as if I was buying a 'normal' Orange phone?
  You may purchase this for an extra charge of £60 including VAT and Insurance Premium Tax. This provides a years insurance and three year warranty, with 24 hour replacement, should your phone get lost, stolen or suffer from a mechanical defect. Even without this extra care package, your handset is covered by a 12 month back to base warranty.

• Will I receive a monthly bill?
  No. Statements can however be ordered (by calling 450 from your Just Talk handset) for £3.53 including VAT, per month.

• How do I find out how many minutes I have left (and how long they are valid for)?
  Simply call 450 from your Just Talk handset, giving your password (which will be set up when the phone is registered) and you will be given this information.

• Can I call the Orange Customer Services department?
  Yes, just call 451 from your phone - although this call is not free of charge.

• Are freephone numbers free, or do they use up my airtime?
  Freephone numbers, with a few exceptions for chargecard services, are free and will not use up your airtime. Likewise, calls to the emergency services are completely free of charge at all times - and can be made even when minutes have run out.

• What happens when I am running out of minutes, or do run out?
  You will hear a warning message the first time you make a call with less than five minutes left. Once you are down to one minute, you will hear a beep. When this time expires, the call will be terminated. No further calls can be made (except for emergency calls and to Customer Services on 450) until more airtime is purchased.

• Do I get the Answer Phone service?
  Yes. Calls to the answer phone service will be charged as any other call. If you would like to disable the service, call 451 from your Just Talk phone.

• If I leave the phone unused for more than three months, can I still get reconnected?
  Yes - but you will need to pay a reconnection fee. You can do this by calling 0800 279 3399. If you haven't used the service for over 12 months - you will need to buy a new Just Talk connection pack and get a brand new number.

• If I'm an existing Orange user - can I migrate to Just Talk from my existing account/talk plan?
  Yes - but you will need to have a new telephone number. However, this will not be possible if you still have any time remaining as part of the minimum 12 month term of contract, or the handset has been reported lost or stolen.

• Can I connect a second hand phone to Just Talk?
  Yes - as long as the phone is not part of an existing contract, or reported lost or stolen. A Just Talk connection pack can be purchased for £49.99 inclusive of VAT. This can be purchased from us, or directly from Orange on 0800 80 10 80 at a slightly higher price. This pack will give a new SIM card and a service guide telling you how Just Talk works - as well as 10 minutes of talk time to set you up. If you wish to connect a GSM1800 handset from another network, such as One 2 One, it must have been unlocked by that network or service provider first.

• I am under 18 and therefore cannot get credit. Can I buy a Just Talk package?
  Yes. As all the payments are up-front, you are not bound by any form of contract or credit agreement. Therefore you can purchase a Just Talk package without any problems, or risk of running up any unexpected bills.

• Can I move to a normal Orange "talk plan" at a later stage, if I decide my usage needs have increased - or I need additional services?
  Subject to a normal credit check you can change to a normal talk plan - paying for rental in advance and calls in arrears.

• What if I decide to sell, or pass my phone on to someone else?
  No problem. Just get them to call 450 to provide the new owner details and give a new password to ensure they can add more airtime to their account, over the phone, in the future.

• Do I still get the normal 14 day money back guarantee?
  Yes - but you will not be able to return any unused minutes that you have purchased.

• How do I get more information?
  Calls to 450 are free - but can only be made to top up airtime, or register your phone. Calling 451 will put you through to the normal Customer Services team, but is chargeable. However, recorded information is available free of charge by dialling 452 from your Just Talk handset.
