Robert Smith's service record
Robert Smith enlisted for service with the Royal Field Artillery on 4th September 1914 at the age of 38. Unfortunately, his service record gives few clues to his battery or when he was gassed. A transcript is shown below.

All that can be assertained is that Robert served with the 27th Division. His Mitiary History Sheet is shown below, but again, reveals little.
