Notes on Order of Battle

  1. Formed at Winchester on 17/11/14. The 4 regular battalions came from India and reached Winchester on 19/11/14.
  2. Formed at Winchester on 17/11/14. 2/Glouc. (from Tientsin) arrived on 13/11/14, and the other 3 battalions (from India) on 20/11/14.
  3. Formed at Winchester on 17/11/14. 2/D.C.L.I. (from Hong Kong) arrived on 13/11/14; and the other 3 battalions (from India) on 18/11 (1/Leins.), 19/11 (1/R. Ir. Rgt.), and 20/11 (2/R. Ir. Fus.).
  4. Arrived at Winchester from Salisbury on 16/11/14. Joined 80th Bde. on 20/11/14.
  5. Joined at Winchester on 21/11/14.
  6. Formed at Winchester on 28/11/14.
  7. I (in Aug. 1914, 13, 67, 69 Bties. at Edinburgh) was re-formed on 23/1/14 at Winchester with 98 (from XX), 132 (formed of left ½ of 96), and 133 (formed of left ½ of 98).
        XIX joined at Winchester on 19/11/14 (with 95, 96, and 97) from India. 97 was transferred to CLXVII (29th Div.), and XIX was reorganized with 95, 96, and 131 (formed of left ½ of 95).
        XX joined at Winchester on 19/11/14 (with 98, 99, and 100) from India. 98 was transferred to I, and 100 to XXXI (28th Div.); and XX was reorganized with 67 (from original I, and made up with 1 sec. of 100), 99, and 364 (formed from 1 sec. of 99 and 1 sec. of 100).
        On 30/11/14 nine 18-pdr. guns, etc., arrived to complete batteries to 4 guns each. (In Aug., 1914, XXXI (131, 132, and 133) was at Sheffield.)
  8. Formed at Winchester in Dec., 1914 (from IV Home Counties (How.) Bde. R.F.A. of Home Counties Div., T.F.).
  9. Joined at Winchester on 4/12/14; transferred to 5th Div., 24/3/15.

  18. Formed 26/8/15. A/LIII (H.) joined 14/6/15 (from 9th Div.) and became A (6/9/15). A/XCII (H.) joined 10/8/15 (from 12th Div.) and became C (6/9/15). CXXIX (H.) was reorganized on 25/7/16. A (H.) became D (H.). B (H.) was transferred to I and became D/I; C went to XX and became D/XX. 133 joined from I, 95 from XIX, and 364 from XX.
  19. Transferred from XV (5th Div.) on 9/2/15. 1 sec. 11 and 1 sec. 39 formed 11A Bty. on 10/2/15. 11A was numbered 148 on 23/2/15. It had joined XX on 10/2/15.

  43. Train (483, 484, 485, 486 Cos., A.S.C.) embarked at Devonport on 16/1/16, reached Salonika on 21/2/16, and became 27th Divnl. Train. The Train was reorganized in pack and wheel echelons in April, 1916; and 852,853, 854, and 855 Cos. were added to it later.
  44. Transferred on 12/6/18 to B.E.F. (France), and joined 151st Bde., 50th Div., on 16/7/18.
  45. S.A.A. Secs. were attached to Bdes. from 28/9/16.
  46. 13/B.W. (Scottish Horse Bn.) joined 1/11/16, and on 11/6/18 it was transferred to B.E.F. (France), and joined 149th Bde., 50th Div., on 15/7/18.
  47. Joined on 2/11/16, from 29th Bde., 10th Div.
  48. 10/Cam. H. (Lovat's Scouts): 1/1 and 1/2Lovat's Scouts Yeo. were amalgamated at Cairo on 27/9/16 and became 10/Cam. H. (Lovat's Scouts). The Bn. reached Salonika on 20/10/16 and joined 82nd Bde. on 1/11/16. It was transferred on 22/6/18 to B.E.F. (France), and joined L. of C. Troops on 6/7/18. The Bn. was disbanded on 17/4/19.
  49. Formed 14/9/17.
  50. Reorganized in Nov., 1917. 852 Coy. absorbed 853 Coy. on 23/11/17; and, on the same day, 854 and 855 Cos. (pack echelon) left the Train and became A.T. Pack Bde. Cos. (unalloted).
