I bought this Jeep as a box of rusty parts and spent the best part of a year rebuilding it.
I replaced the tub with a new steel one, which was based on a late version. This meant fabricating new body mounts and a new rear bumper (no big thing as I really like doing it). A new front bumper , in the same style as the rear, was also made. I converted it to right hand drive using as many factory RHD parts as I could find (dash, heater, steering box, handbrake) and made the rest. The spare tyre is held in place by a swing away hanger that is part of the rear bumper/crossmember.
The ones who are "eagle eyed" will have already spotted the stainless Wrangler tailgate hinges and also the modified CJ 7 tailgate, BFG 33x12.5's on 10x15 Compomotives, late style roll bar and aero fuel cap.
The rest of the Jeep was rebuilt essentially stock with a 360 thrown in for good measure. The lift (4 inches) is Skyjacker as are the shocks and steering damper. The engine is stock except for an Edelbrock Inlet manifold and carb(600cfm). The transmission consists of Dana 30 front and 44 rear, T15 gearbox with a Dana 20 transfer box.
The driveshafts have had to be strengthened as I twisted two in two weeks (and this was only on the road). I suppose something had to give as I was racing fast cars at the time, Porsche 928 and a Ford Sierra Cosworth4x4(with 350 BHP).
Almost everything that was bought for this Jeep was obtained from Four Wheel Drive Hardware Inc, Ohio, USA.Everyone who I've delt with there was very helpful .Thanks is given to Woody who is one of the Tech guys, he helped me out when I needed certain parts and specifications.
