customer testimony... I have had many emails of thanks for the TBX, here's one of the more enthusiastic ones!
"Hello and thankyou to all responsible for the creation of the beast that is now in my possession. The sound is absolutely bang on and it's so versatile. I spent last Friday night at my brothers studio, my mc303 linked to his tb303, and the resulting sounds were quite tortured. I now know this was because of the octave ranges of the mc + tb clashing, but we liked the sound so I dropped in hollow, echoing breakbeat. Then we discovered his midi system was leaking note messages to his Roland jp8000, so he turned it up a bit, began playing some seriosly atmospheric chords on a korg X3 and the jam went on for hours while I picked sounds at random from the mc303 and tweaked them to bursting point.
The TBX makes the same sounds as the tb even when things are'nt quite as they should be (clashing octaves resulting in tortured squeeks and squeals) although you will be pleased to hear I spent this morning figuring out exactly what notes were being produced and I have reprogrammed the patern in the mc303 to request them properly. The functions of the TBX are exactly what's needed, I took the advice in the manual to set the overdrive to about 90% and then set about learning/discovering what effects the other controls have on each other. A favourite result of mine being the sub bass warmth achieved with the decays turned up and the resonance turned down (you don't get that with an mc303, everything just goes quiet). After sveral hours playing around yesterday I began to realise what you get from using a dedicated bass machine (the four and a half ish octaves, I think there's more but I have'nt counted the notes yet, of the TBX being in the high range of the mc303). There is a new sound to my work on the mc303, no matter how much I extracted from the mc303 to create some of my acid paterns I knew something was missing, the bass is now rich and flowing with natural sub not forced and sounding desperate. Though credit where credit is due, the mc303 is quite brilliant in it's own way and I now feel free to enjoy it for what it is. It just is not nor ever will be a dedicated analogue bass machine. The TBX has filled a gap I never realised was so aching to be filled. Oh and the LFO is magnificent. I have explored the remaining 10% of the overdrive too. My god!
It may take a while to come to fruition but expect a new link to youtube in the near future, I'll be at my brother's studio again tonight..........
Thanks again for a brilliant product and incredibly fast turnaround and delivery time. I'm having a fantastic holiday!
P.S. And to think, this time last week I was bidding over 3 grand on ebay for a tb303devilfish. Thank god I lost that auction! TBX is an absolute bargain and well worthy of the 303 badge!"

TBX-303 INTRODUCTION
The TBX is a bass machine that can play a bass line via a MIDI device.
We have tried to accurately duplicate the analogue voice circuitry of the TB303, using the same discrete components where possible.
We have also tried to duplicate the look where possible, though high manufacturing costs have prevented us having an identical case and knobs.
Note; the sequencer has not been re-created. We have not duplicated the sequencer - this is a MIDI only device. I know that won't please everyone, so we apologies here to those.
BASS AND THE TBX
A musical bass line involves many complex factors, such as different pitches and beats, and consequently it is a difficult thing to reproduce automatically. It may vary depending on the rhythm, chord progression, style of music and the character of the musician.
Sometimes it can take the role of a low melody, then it might outline the chords or become a strong rhythmic influence in an ensemble. But overall it is a very important part of the rhythm section, following the chord progression, mainly using the root and fifth note.
The TBX cannot memorise the tone colour - it has no 'memories', just like all the classic synthesisers of old. The bass sound is changed using the TONE CONTROL SECTION. In this way the TBX can create an appropriate Bass sound for the bass line you have written.
Main spec;
Basically the analogue voice of a 303 circuit with MIDI and some extra features like noise, LFO etc.
Extra tone controls:
VCO level
External Audio level
Squelch - to add more resonance
Cross mod (VCO to Cut-off)
MIDI Mod (MIDI control of Cut-off from Velocity or a Controller)
LFO Mod / LFO Speed (Square and Triangle)
VCA Decay
Overdrive
Other features:
Audio input - through filter
Headphone socket
Uses the original 303 voice circuit, and analogue components (where possible - many are discontinued). We tried to get the sound original, and in our opinion it sounds just like a 303 - but of course there will always be to very few who disagree!
NOTE: there is no internal sequencer. Please don't debate with us whether that was the right or wrong thing to do. We did our best with the time and resources we have.
