MIDI-CV converters

What do MIDI-CV Converters do?

In order to control pre-MIDI synthesisers from a modern MIDI instrument or sequencer, you need to change the digital MIDI messages into the kind of signals the pre-MIDI synth can understand.

Note; Pro-Solo and Pro-KADI do not include the 9V DC power supply they require to run. We can supply UK/Euro power supplies at an extra £8 exc. VAT.

MIDI-DCB interface
connect your Juno60/6 / Jup-8 to MIDI !

pro kadi interface box

Back into 80', well before MIDI, Roland invented their own interface system designed to link their polysynths & sequencers together in a similar way to modern day MIDI. They called their system 'DCB' (digital control bus). Although not as advanced as MIDI, it did allow note information to be exchanged, & also program change (this feature was only implemented on Jupiter 8s).

The only synths that had DCB were; Juno 60 & some Jupiter 8s. A DCB interface can be fitted to the Juno 6.

Specifications

A DCB lead is included in this price, to connect to your Juno/Jupiter.

Please state the type of connector required if you have a Jupiter-8
(either 15 or 20 pin) as Roland used two types.

MIDI to Wasp/Trigger interface

Pro KADI, MIDI to trigger, Kenton Electronics, MIDI to CV Converter - Analogue Solutions

This interface has 2 modes;

Wasp mode;
It can be used to control an EDP Wasp or Gnat from MIDI.
(These 2 synths cannot be controlled via a conventional MIDI-CV converter).

Trigger (KADI) mod;
This provides 11 trigger outputs, plus 1 Accent output for the control of analogue drum machines* or many monosynths.
Each trigger out can be mapped to any note number.
* Drum machine has to be modified with a KADI input (see Trigger Ins/Outs price list).

Wasp / KADI out - connect this to your Wasp or KADI equipped drum machine.

MIDI In, Thru. Has a built in MIDI analyser.

Price £115 ex. VAT

This includes a Wasp OR a KADI lead.

PSU extra (uses standard 9V). We can supply these if necessary.

Cheaper than a retrofit and just as effective, it can be used with the TR-808, TR-606, CR78, CR8000, Wasp and many, many more.

Most drum machines do need a small modification to run with this interface.

We can supply and/or fit the modification for your drum machine to work with the PRO-KADI. Kits are available for the TR-808, TR-606, CR-78 and CR-8000, Simmons SDS-5 and 7.

This multi-mode MIDI trigger unit is highly configurable and capable of driving up to 13 outputs.

Hundreds of other control applications exist, such as lighting control, robotics and ignition of small explosives for theatre productions. Please email us if you have a specificic MIDI control project.
