So what is "Stitch That!" all about? The site is dedicated to providing a high quality garment design and construction service by an experienced designer and seamstress, Sheila Gravel. Sheila is based in Doncaster and has a background in the sewing industry; and has 30 years of valuable experience in sewing and the construction of a wide range of garments. As a mature student, Sheila gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Clothing and Fashion, and was invited to show her collection of clothes at the "Enlarge Your Tent Event" in Leeds after the organisers attended her final degree show. After viewing her work at the Design Centre in London in July 2000, she was invited by "Out on a Limb" magazine in London to have her collection shown in their magazine. Her own designs were shown at the Clothtec trade fair in 1999.

Sheila was awarded the prestigious Regional and National Edexcel Award for Commitment to Learning in 1998 and her name was mentioned in the House of Commons for her commitment and achievements in Life Long Learning. Her work placements whilst attending University took her to the Globe Theatre and Central Saint Martins in London, where she was involved in garment manufacture and in the hand sewing of costumes, in addition to helping with the final Fashion Show at Central Saint Martins. She has been teaching in College for the past few years, teaches textiles in secondary schools, and has also worked for the Workers Education Association, a charity that works with adults who are seeking new skills.
