CAMBER CASTLE

Built in 1539 as a gun battery for coastal defence. It was abandoned in 1642 as the sea was retreating and is now a mile away. Unlike other Henry V111 castles the castle still shows its original design.

English Heritage, open April to September by guided tour only.
